How it all started………..
Food and cooking always ran like a thread through my artistic life as a singer/actress. So one day when I came across a recipe in a magazine for fig chocolates, I did not hesitate for a moment to make some. For years I left it to this one recipe, until I was thinking of Christmas and what to put as something new and different under the Christmas tree ….. And so the idea was born to give everyone a box of chocolates as a gift. I could not think of anything more personal, but I didn’t make it easy for myself. Besides the Christmas dinner, I was also working on ‘The presents’ for a whole week ….. Phew …..
The reactions were very positive. Everyone immediately said that ….. “I had to do something with it” ….. but I didn’t pursue that idea at the time.
For a long time it was a nice hobby, until the moment came when I thought after 30 years of singing it has been enough, I quit! Without actually knowing what I would do next.
Six weeks later I looked back and I thought, well, I am already ‘working’ with chocolates … Sometimes something stares you so clearly in your face that you do not see it.
…. and the fig chocolates? …. I still make them. In the autumn, when they again adorn my winter assortment.
